My reading habit for the year 2009, seems to be going good, since I have read almost 5 books in the last 3 months. I recently was reading an autobiography. I wish not to disclose the name. To be honest, I just love AUTOBIOGRAPHIES. There are just unparalleled. I learn loads, from autobiographies of great people. So I wish to read as many as I can.
Recently I completed one such autobiography, of a very impressive personality. I enjoyed the book thoroughly no doubts about it. But it was a line, in one of the chapter, which literally puzzled me.
The author goes on to write, quoting that, he himself has an indentation towards aiming high, achieving high and being a great performer.
The only thing which came to my mind was that, is the author boasting? I always feel, its for others to judge whether a person is a high performer or not. (after reading the book)
After all, its the author's book, he can write whatever he may want. After reading the book, I hoped to get a feeling of appreciation towards the author, thinking him as a great achiever.
But in between if he tends to quote himself as a high achiever, doesn't that look a bit weird. Or may be I have not read many autobiographies. There may be other persons who would like to openly proclaim that they are high achievers.
I do not know.

Congrats! for completing reading 5 books in such a short span. But many questions arise when I read this post.
>Can we learn from reading books?
I feel that we jus gain knowledge.
>I don't know y u don't disclose the book u were reading recently?
>About the line: Suppose I say that I see or have the ability to be at the top. What's wrong in that? I feel, hence I say.
>Finally, who defines what is meant by great performance?
Suppose I decide that "If I reduce 15K of weight in 6 months is quite good as per by ability".
For some, it may look silly and for some other, it may look great.
"Every person will judge you based on their standards, not on what you think or according to ur standards"
So y do u feel its right for someone else to judge a person is high performer or not?
>Can we learn from reading books?
I feel that we jus gain knowledge.
Hmmmm... I dont disagree when u say we gain knowledge, but when u read the autobiography of a person and some of his best practices, tend to rub on you, and u try to follow them, then I feel the lesson is learnt. I do try to put into practice what I have read, but still its an on going process dude..
> Finally, who defines what is meant by great performance?
About this I am clueless, if you read the book, you may feel may be I have exaggerated, but pls dont mind. I wrote what I felt.. :P
> Suppose I say that I see or have the ability to be at the top. What's wrong in that? I feel, hence I say.
Correct. its the author s space, he can write whatever he want. But there are also lots of autobiographies available in the market, Can you pin point to one and tell , see here is another author who feels he is proclaiming to be a high achiever.
>So y do u feel its right for someone else to judge a person is high performer or not?
Sorry I dint get the context of this thing rite, but I have something to say.
& Regarding 5 books, 2 of them out of the 5 are TinTin. coz I just love TinTin
>I don't know y u don't disclose the book u were reading recently?...
